Privacy Policy
Last updated: September 28, 2026
DishSnap ("we", "us") is a social app for rating dishes and restaurants.
This policy explains what we collect and how we use it.
What we collect
- Account info: your email address, name, username, and
password (stored as a salted hash — we never see or store the plain text).
- Content you post: reviews, scores, comments, photos and
videos, stories, and the restaurants you tag.
- Location: with your permission, your device location is
used to show nearby dishes and to search restaurants near you. We store the
locations of restaurants you tag — not a history of your movements.
- Usage basics: counts such as likes, follows, and points
that make the app's social features work.
- Beta waitlist: if you request a beta invite on our
website, we store your email address and, if you give them, the username
you'd like and your city — only to send your invite, note the handle you
asked for, and decide where the beta opens next. Email us to be removed from
the list.
How we use it
To run the app: showing your posts to other users, powering search, maps,
leaderboards, and notifications, sending password-reset emails, and keeping
the community safe (content moderation and account enforcement).
We do not sell your personal information or use it for third-party
advertising.
Services we rely on
- Convex — hosts our database and backend.
- Apple Maps — restaurant search and geocoding; your
search text and approximate location are sent to Apple to return results.
- Resend — delivers password-reset emails.
Sharing
Content you post (reviews, photos, profile) is visible to other users —
that's the point of the app. We don't share your email or private account
data with other users.
Your controls
- Blocking and reporting are built in.
- You can delete individual posts at any time.
- You can permanently delete your account and its content from the app's
settings. Deletion is immediate and irreversible.
Children
DishSnap is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly
collect data from them.
Changes
If this policy changes materially we'll update this page and the date
above.
